This is one of the easiest blog posts I've made because I just simply have to go to my playlist! I am a huge fan of Japanese Rock and K-pop. Today I'd like to talk about some of my favorite artists, Polkadot Stingray, BTS and Kris Wu.

POLKADOT STINGRAY

Polkadot Stingray was formed in 2014. They are made up of vocalist and guitarist Shizuku (She is absolutely gorgeous and I love her voice), guitarist Harushi Eijma, drummer Kazuma Mitsuyasu, and bassist Yuki Uemura. On March 4, 2016, they released Telecaster Stripe (テレキャスター・ストライプ) as a digital single. They then released their first extended play, Honenuki EP (骨抜きE.P.), on November 9, 2016. The first song I'm linking is called Kokorokokoniarazu and It's my absolute favorite song by them. The second is a more recent song called A Stinging Spica.

BTS

BTS was the first K-Pop group that I listened to somewhere around 2014 or 2015. BTS is an acronym of Bangtan Sonyeondan (Which means Bulletproof Boyscouts) but now they go by “Beyond the Scene." The members of BTS are RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V and Jung Kook. They debuted in 2013 with their first song "No More Dream." In their earlier years, their music focused on prevalent issues in society focused around school, work and the government. Both Namjoon (RM) and Yoongi (SUGA) have released mixtapes that focus on their personal struggles with mental illness. J-Hope and Jimin are the primary dancers of the group, J-hope focusing on Hip-Hop and Street dance, while Jimin focuses more on contemporary and ballet. Jungkook was also considered an official member of the "dance-line" because of how easily he picked it up and how good he is at dancing. The rappers of the group are J-hope, RM and Suga, the vocalists are Jimin, Jin, V and Jungkook. I wanted to link two songs for them as well. The first song is their most recent release, "Black Swan." The second song is my favorite one by them, performed by J-hope called "Boy meets Evil."

KRIS WU

Kris Wu is the only artist on my list that I know very little about. I do know that he was originally a member of K-pop group, EXO. EXO was originally split into two groups, EXO-K, the Korean group, and EXO-M, the Chinese group. However, almost all of EXO's chinese members have left due to suspected mistreatment. Since Kris Wu has left EXO, he has made a name for himself as one of the most popular Chinese Soloist. He has collabed with many famous American artists, such as Travis Scott in the song "Deserve."

Thanks for all of this, Jhelani. I actually count on the blogs to keep me up on trends in K-and J-Pop, and similar -pops as they appear :-)

I really enjoyed listening to all the artists you mentioned in your blog. I was actually shocked that I recognized two out of the three. I actually searched for some information about BTS because I briefly spoke about them in my blog.
